Beliefs and values of
Gateway Church

Who we are and what we do as a church is motivated by what we believe about God and the principles laid down in the Bible. We believe the Bible is inspired by God and shows us how to develop a relationship with God through Jesus. Because of the impact this relationship has had on our own lives we wish to share this knowledge with others in ways that help people encounter the love and transforming power of God.

We value all people equally and want to build community within our church and into the local area and beyond by developing links through relationships, events and other community-focused initiatives.

We want to raise and respond to issues of injustice and poverty in society both at home and abroad by some of our activities and prayer.

We want to help and encourage people to reach their full potential in every aspect of their lives.

We want to demonstrate by our individual and corporate lives the love of God and seek to share this with others through practical care and service.

As a Church, we are also members of the Evangelical Alliance and subscribe to their Basis of Faith.

Our Vision

To see the communities that the church represents reached with the love, acceptance and purpose that a relationship with God through Christ can bring. To see people of all ages, ethnicity, sexual identification and orientation come into a relationship with God. To see them healed from their past, fulfilled in their present and empowered and released for their future. To see them become more Christ-like in the way they live their lives, increasingly maturing into the people that God has created them to be.

Gateway is a church that is relevant to its community and their needs and filled with people who are being saved, healed, empowered and released. It is a church that accepts, values and loves each other from the very youngest to the very oldest, recognising that each generation is part of an amazing spiritual family where needs are looked out for and met with each member taking responsibility for each other.

It is a place of welcome for new people coming into church., always ready for the visitor and welcoming to all. It is a church that loves to praise and worship God, recognising the power that this brings. It is a church with prayer at its heart and with a passion to see God move through his holy spirit. Most of all, it is a church that loves God and the relationship we can all have with him through Christ.

We are part of the Forge family of churches.

General Code of Conduct

At Gateway church, we believe that every person is valued and loved by God. We believe that it is therefore important that each of us as individuals speak and act with love and respect to each other.

Inclusivity Statement

As a church we believe that God loves and sacrificed himself for all of humanity, regardless of origin or preference, and that salvation which comes with that is accessible to all who ask. We believe that as his church and representatives on earth that we should show everyone the love, acceptance and purpose that a relationship with God can bring through Christ without any prejudice. We also believe in the bible being the word of God and that in the bible God shares how life should be lived, in order to live their best possible lives. We therefore agree with its position on lifestyles and would encourage everyone to aspire to live a life in accordance with its principles. We would also expect those in leadership positions to be aspiring and exemplifying lifestyles that are based on biblical principles. We do however recognise that we are all on a journey in this regard, and we are committed to making sure that all people feel loved and accepted within our congregations and sites.
