Gateway Academy

These courses often cover a variety of topics such as the teachings of Jesus, the history of the bible, and the significance of different biblical passages. They can be helpful for individuals looking to strengthen their personal beliefs, as well as for those seeking to be actively involved in their church community. Through studying the Bible in a group setting, participants can also build relationships with others who share their faith and engage in discussions to gain various perspectives and insights on the biblical teachings. Overall, biblical courses at church can be a valuable experience for those seeking to grow spiritually and connect with others in their faith community.

What’s next group

This is a group for people who are new to the church.  If this is your first time in church or if you are moving to us from a previous church this course is for you.  It’s a great place to get to know other people in church as well as learning more about what being a Christian means and the impact that it can have in your life.  It is a 7-week course meeting weekly for about an hour each week with lots of opportunities to ask questions. Its themes for the week are:

  • What is Salvation
  • The bible,
  • Prayer,
  • Praise and worship
  • The church
  • Our mission
  • Who is Gateway Church?

Gateway Church, in partnership with Christians Against Poverty, runs Marchwood CAP debt centre. This provides help for anybody in the community who is struggling with debt. This may well have happened because of unemployment, poor health, or relationship breakdown. When people seek help, they ring the national CAP number 0800 328 0006 and an appointment is made with the local centre. Visits usually take place in their home, where the journey out of debt is explained. Together with people from the church, appropriate support is given to help in this process.

We see this as an active expression of Jesus’ love and compassion and believe that this is the sort of thing He would be doing.

This is a great course which helps to bring God’s freedom to our lives.  We all have to deal with things in life whether that be the things we see, do, have done to us or just the culture that we live in means that we pick up unhealthy thoughts of ourselves or God.  Focused on firstly establishing every Christian in the sure foundation of their identity in Jesus, it then gives them the tools to break free and stay free from all that holds them back, and a strategy for ongoing transformation.

Over 1.2 million people in the UK have done an Alpha Course looking for some answers to life’s biggest questions.

Alpha is a unique chance to chat through some of life’s biggest questions.

There are three main ingredients to an online Alpha:

We will be using a Zoom video meeting to connect together online. At the beginning of each Alpha, there is time to chat and get to know each other.

Each week we will watch an Alpha Video together. Each magazine-style episode unpacks a crucial part of the Christian faith; answering questions such as Who is Jesus?, How can we have faith? and How does God guide us?

The videos are designed to spark conversation. So every week there will be time for everyone to give their point of view and ask questions.

Alpha is an 11-week course that creates a space, online or in person, where people are excited to bring their friends for a conversation about faith, life and God.

Each Alpha Online meeting will last for around an hour and there are 11 sessions all together. Each week is based around a different topic, such as:

  • Is there more to life than this?
  • Who is Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus die?
  • How to pray
  • Does God heal today?
  • Who is the Holy Spirit?
